As a professional asbestos removal company servicing Ohio and Pennsylvania with 28 years of experience, here at SafeAir we have a few tips to help you find professional service every time!
Spotting a Professional Asbestos Removal Company
A professional asbestos removal company isn’t hard to spot, but sometimes an amateur company can be. As one of the leading asbestos removal businesses in Ohio and Pennsylvania, we have seen many amateur companies come and go in our time and we know the tricks they like to pull. That’s why today, we want to share a few tips with you to help you to spot the GOOD companies from the bad…even if you don’t choose us!
5 Tips to Identify a Professional Asbestos Removal Company
1. Verify Their Credentials
Not every asbestos removal company is licensed although here at SafeAir, we believe that they should be! By law, 99% of asbestos removal companies MUST be licensed before they can assist with your abatement project. You can check a company’s credentials online AND you can request to see their licensure before hiring them to complete your job.
2. Make Sure They Are Licensed For YOUR Type of Project
There are different types of licensure for asbestos removal and it’s important that the company that you hire is certified to complete the work you need doing. Class I asbestos licensure allows the removal of asbestos surface materials, the removal of materials containing asbestos that are used to maintain or regulate heat, and the removal of materials that are suspected to contain asbestos. Class II asbestos licensure allows the removal of asbestos-contaminated non-thermal materials. Class III asbestos licensure allows the repair and maintenance of any materials containing asbestos. For your asbestos removal project, you will almost always want a Class III certified company.
3. Look into Past Projects
A reputable professional asbestos removal company will have a portfolio of jobs that they have completed successfully. They will never be hesitant to discuss these projects with you and will happily explain how those jobs compare to your own. If, however, you find that a company has no record of previous jobs or is reluctant to talk with you about their portfolio, drop them fast and continue your search!
4. Ask Plenty of Questions!
Don’t be afraid to ask plenty of questions of your potential asbestos removal company. Some popular questions include questions about the equipment being used, what precautions they are taking to maintain a safe environment during their work, and what their rates are Interview a few different companies via phone to compare them to each other and see which is the best fit for you and who had none of the answers!
5. Ask For Customer References
There is no better judge of a company’s work than their previous clients. Any professional asbestos removal company should be more than willing to offer customer references to vouch for their work (just keep in mind that they may want to call those references first!) If a company is reluctant to provide references or simply refuses, it’s time to keep searching!
