Mold contamination is an awful thing to live with, but how much do you really know about it? There are one too many myths out there regarding mold so today we’re going to take a look at five of the most commonly believed mold contamination myths!

5 Mold Contamination Myths That Just Aren’t True!

1. Bleach Kills Mold

This is a common misconception. Bleach can kill some types of mold on some types of surfaces (and bring some nasty inhalants with it!) but researchers are not yet sure if bleach is capable of killing all mold variations on all surfaces.

2. Once It’s Dead, There’s Nothing to Worry About

Many people mistakenly believe that once they have killed the mold in their home, they don’t need to worry about removing the mold contamination. Unfortunately for people with mold allergies, even when it’s been killed off, mold still contains the allergens that make your life miserable!

3. Mold is a Natural Product So Don’t Worry About it!

Just because something is found in nature doesn’t mean that it’s harmless. Take, for example, the black widow spider. Her venom is naturally occurring, but that doesn’t mean it’s not something to be concerned about when you get bitten!

Mold has a number of proven negative health effects including respiratory distress and any mold problem should be addressed by a professional.

4. Getting Rid of Mold Means Mold-Free Air!

The fact of the matter is that we live in a world where mold is constantly present. It’s only when the level of mold spores in the air hits a certain level and throws everything out of balance that mold becomes a problem.

5. The Only Really “Bad Mold” is Black Mold

The color of mold has less to do with its toxicity and more to do with the color of its spores. Mold comes in all types of colors and even the most innocent looking mold can pose a risk to you and your family!
